1     Chen Xi, male, doctor, was born in September 1964. He is now the director of Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, Chinese Academy of Sciences, professor and doctoral advisor, director of the provincial-level Key Laboratory of Xinjiang Remote Sensing and Geographic Information System, director of Xinjiang Association of Natural Resources, and director general of Xinjiang Association of Remote Sensing Application. He engages mainly in hydrology and water resources research, remote sensing and GIS.

2     Lei Jiaqiang, male, professor, was born in July 1961. He is now an associate director of Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, Chinese Academy of Sciences, doctoral and master advisor, director of Institute of Desert Project Survey and Design, director of Qira National Field Station for Desert Steppe Ecosystem Research, director of Xinjiang Research Center of Technology for Oasis-desert Ecological Construction Project. He engages mainly in the study on desert environment and desertification prevention and control.

3     Chen Yaning, male, was born in January 1958,  doctor, doctoral and master advisor and an innovation professor of Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, Chinese Academy of Sciences, associate director of Scholarship Committee of the institute, member of the Editorial Board of “Journal of Geographical Sciences”, associate editor of “Arid Land Geography”, a syndic of China Association of Ecology, associate director of Physical Geography Branch of China Association of Geography, associate director of Xinjiang Association of Ecology, and member of International Union of Water Science. He took advanced studies in USA, Japan, Germany and other countries. He won a second award of the “National Award for Scientific and Technological Progress”, more than 10 province-level and ministry-level first and second awards of the “Award for Scientific and Technological Progress”, a national “May 1st Labor Prize” and the special government allowance from the State Council. He engages mainly in the studies on ground surface process and evolution of ecosystems in arid areas, exploitation of natural resources and environment improvement, ecological construction and regional development.

4     Li Yan, male, was born in January 1963. He accomplished the research projects supported by the National Outstanding Youth Foundation in 2007 and “Hundred Talented-person Program” of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2002. He is a professor of Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, Chinese Academy of Sciences, director of Fukang National Field Station for Desert Ecosystem Research, associate director of Scholarship Committee of the institute, responsible member of the Editorial Board of “Plant and Soil”, and member of Scientific Committee of China Ecosystem Research Network (CERN). He engages mainly in the studies on plant (vegetation)-water relations in arid area, response and adaptability of eremophytes, plant physiology foundation of irrigation management, and biogeochemical cycle of carbon, nitrogen, and other elements.

5     Tian Changyan, male, was born in March 1961. He is an associate director and deputy secretary of CCP Committee of Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, Chinese Academy of Sciences, innovation professor and doctoral advisor. He engages mainly in the studies on soil improvement, plant nutrition and oasis agriculture ecology.     

6     Yang Zhaoping, female, was born in February 1964. She is doctor, innovation professor, doctoral and master advisor, associate director of Research Center of Tourism Development and Planning, Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, Chinese Academy of Sciences, associate director of Xinjiang Scientific Exploration Association. She engages mainly in the study on the tourism development and planning in Xinjiang and the cooperative study on regional economy and natural resources in Central Asia.

7     Zhang Xiaolei, male, was born in September 1963. He is doctor, professor, doctoral and master advisor, president of Xinjiang Branch, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and former director of Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He engages mainly in the urban geography, economic geography, tourism geography, political geography and the studies on exploitation and utilization of natural resources and regional sustainable development.

8     Zhang Yuanming, male, was born in October 1972. He is doctor, innovation professor, doctoral and master advisor of Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He engages mainly in the phytoecology and the study on desert biotic crust in arid areas. Currently, he takes charge to carry out the research subject of the “Formation Mechanism of Biotic Crust over Desert Surface and Its Application in Desertification Prevention and Control” entrusted by National Natural Science Foundation of China.

9     Luo Geping, male, was born in April 1968. He is doctor, innovation professor, doctoral and master advisor of Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He engages mainly in the studies on LUCC, natural resources and environment in arid areas, application of remote sensing and GIS.

10   Mu Guijin, male, was born in October 1958. He graduated from Speciality of Regional Geologic Reconnaissance and Mineral Exploration, Changchun Geology College. He is an innovation professor, doctoral and master advisor of Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, Chinese Academy of Sciences, commissioner of China Seminar Quaternary Science, member of Chinese Geography Association, member of Glaciology and Cryopedology Committee, member and standing syndic of Xinjiang Geography Association, member of Xinjiang Geology Association. He earns the special government allowance from the State Council. He engages mainly in geology and the studies on environment change, formation and evolution process of arid environment, exogenic geologic function and geologic process, inter-feedback between modern arid environment and human activities, etc.

11   Zhao Chengyi, male, was born in Xinjiang in July 1966. He is doctor, innovation professor, doctoral and master advisor of Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and director of Aksu National Field Station for Water Balance Experiment. He engages mainly in the studies on the theory and application of drainage-basin hydroecology, simulation of hydrological and ecological processes, farmland irrigation works, regional soil water-salt movement and water-carbon coupling process and simulation, evolution of regional ecological environment quality and its evaluation, etc.
