Brief introduction of the research subject

In the study, following research subjects were carried out: (1) The long-term historical data series were used to develop the hydrological process and environmental evolution in two drainage basins, the recent hydrological process and environmental evolution were comprehensively lucubrated based on the data of field-positioned observation and experiment, the data observed by the hydrological and meteorological stations and the data of redistributing irrigation water, recycle river channels and RS interpretation, and the effects of utilization of water-land resources on water consumption, outflow and entironment in the drainage basins were researched using GIS means and various mathematical models; (2) The water cycle process and water consumption mechanism in both the domestic and foreign areas of the Yili River Basin and the Ertix River Basin were researched from both theoretical and practice aspects, the actuality and change laws of water consumption in the drainage basins were analyzed, the simulation models of water consumption in the drainage basins were developed, and the water volumes for ecological use during different periods and in planned years in the future were calculated. RS means and the methods of energy balance and water balance were firstly combined to calculate the water consumption balance in the drainage basins in arid and semiarid areas, the RS- and GIS-based calculation models of water consumptions in the drainage basins were developed, and the traditional calculation pattern of water balance was improved. The RS- and GIS-based integrated analysis and calculation methods of distributed water volume for ecological use were firstly developed, and the relations between the water volumes used for natural ecology and artificial ecology in the Yili River and Ertix River basins since recent 20 years were quantitatively analyzed and calculated. The conversion relations of water volumes between different geographical units in the drainage basins were researched and revealed based on the systematical analysis theory and method of water resources by regarding the integrations of hydrological, experimental and RS-analyzed data in the drainage basins as the judging criterions, and the models of water cycle simulation and water balance were developed. The demanded volumes of water resources in both the domestic and foreign areas of the Yili River Basin were analyzed and calculated, and the redistribution of water resources and its interaction between two countries under various conditions were simulated and analyzed, which filled in the gaps in this field.
