Botanic Society of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region is the academic organization of the scientific workers and a part of Science and Technology Association of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Regions. The tenet of Botanic Society of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region is to: adhere to the Four Basic Principles and carry out the guideline of “one Hundred Flowers Blossoming and One hundred Schools of Thought Contending”. Fully carry forward democracy, advocate dedicative, innovative, realistic and cooperative spirit, carry forward the scientific ethics and modes and carry out free discussion on academy, communicate scientific research and education experience and popularize the phytology knowledge. Adhere to the scientific attitude and fine style of work of seeking truth from facts. Hold together the mass scientific and technological workers of various nationalities to face Xinjiang, modernization and the future and make contribution for flourishing Xinjiang plant sciences career, promoting the popularization and extension of science and technology and creation of more scientific and technological results and cultivation of talents and vitalizing economy of Xinjiang and accelerating realization of China’s socialist modernization of the autonomous region.
　　Main tasks：
　　1、Organize academic exchange activities in the autonomous region and at home and abroad actively and place emphasis on organization of academic discussion on scientific research and education and scientific investigation.
　　2、Popularize the technical knowledge of botany and biotechnological knowledge vigorously and spread advanced technology.
　　3、Organize, edit and publish the technological books and periodicals.
　　4、Play a role in consultation concerning the scientific and technological policies of related scientific research and development and production and the important problems during production and construction, and accept the related entrusted science and technology project appraisal and appraisal of scientific and technological achievements and provide the technical consultation service and other work. Discover the talent and recommend them and carry forward the social fashion of “respect for knowledge and the talent”.
　　5、Reflect the plant scientific and technological workers’ opinion to the Party and Government and related departments and recommend and safeguard the lawful rights and interests of scientific worker in a right way.
　　The Society was established in 1962 and has 480 members at present and 5 group members. The branch structure of natural sciences training section is set up. The publication of Arid Zone Research is a core periodical. The composition of the eighth council is:
