Scientific Counsellor of Iranian Embassy in China Visits Xinjiang Branch, CAS
Esmaeil Mehryar, Scientific Counsellor of the Iranian Embassy in China, visited the Xinjiang Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) on April 16, 2024. Anniwaer Maimaiti, Deputy Director of the Xinjiang Branch, met with Esmaeil. Heads of the International Cooperation Departments from the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, the Xinjiang Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry, and the Xinjiang Astronomical Observatory, attended the meeting.
Heads of the International Cooperation Departments briefed the research fields, scientific achievements, and international cooperation of the three institutions. Counsellor Esmaeil introduced the country of Iran, Iranian universities, talent training, and demands for cooperation.
Both parties expressed their wishes to strengthen cooperation in areas such as ecological environment, biomedicine, information technology, and astronomical observation. They also discussed next steps for cooperation including online meetings and people-to-people exchanges.
Anniwaer extended a warm welcome to Counsellor Esmaeil’s visit, emphasizing Xinjiang Branch’s commitment to actively participate in the Belt and Road Initiative, and to deepen collaboration with countries along the Belt and Road including Iran.
