A Positive and Enriching Internship in China
Jacopo Fischetti
Master Student, University of Turin, International Visiting Student at XIEG
My internship experience in China was an extremely positive and enriching experience, both from a professional and a personal point of view.
From the very beginning of my internship, I was impressed by the great professionalism of both professors and students. They were always available to support me step by step, helping me understand the different aspects of my research and trying to find new and effective solutions whenever problems or unexpected situations arose. Their willingness to share their knowledge and experience made the whole internship much easier and allowed me to learn a lot.
The institute, the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, Chinese Academy of Sciences, was also extremely well prepared and equipped for this kind of research. The availability of the right equipment made the research much easier and more efficient. It was clear that I was working in a prestigious institution, not only because of its facilities and research opportunities, but also because of the large number of students, PhD candidates, and researchers coming from different parts of the world. This international environment gave me the opportunity to meet people with different backgrounds and perspectives, making the experience even more valuable.
Beyond the academic and professional aspects, my time in China was also very rewarding on a personal level. I had the opportunity to discover a different culture, try many new kinds of food, and experience everyday life in a completely different environment. I was particularly impressed by the high level of safety in the city, which allowed me to feel comfortable and enjoy my stay.
One of the most valuable aspects of this experience was also the opportunity to meet new people and make new friends. Overall, I consider my internship in China a truly positive and unforgettable experience. It allowed me to develop new professional skills, broaden my knowledge, and experience a different culture. I am very grateful for the opportunity I had, and if I had the chance, I would definitely return to China in the future.
