A “Technical Training Class for Desertification Control” Was successfully opened in our institute

A China-Libya “Technical Training Class for Desertification Control” was successfully opened in Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, Chinese Academy of Sciences from April 9, 2009. The topics of the training class were to remake desert, conserve environment, exploit natural resources and develop economy. The persons presented at the Class Opening Ceremony include Yan Zhenxin, the Vice Secretary General of the Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Qiu Huasheng, the Vice Director General of International Cooperation Bureau of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Pyram, the Vice Minister of Ministry of Agriculture and Fishery of Libya, Mohanmod, Secretary General in charge of Libyan National Vegetation Development Committee, Airhamas, the Libyan Ambassador in China, et al. More than 20 students from Libya came to our institute to have a 35-day technical training on desertification control, which indicated that the first China-Libya cooperation on desertification control has been formally started.
The contents of the training class were to investigate all the filed research stations of our institute, visit the ecological projects including the shelter forests along the Tarim Desert Highway, etc. The actualization of the “Technical Training Class for Desertification Control” redounds to popularizing the Chinese advanced scientific and technological achievements for desertification control in Africa and increasing the international standing of China in this field.
