Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography Assists the Construction of Xinjiang Pavilion’s Extension for Expo Online

　  The Expo Online is an attraction of Expo 2010 Shanghai, which overcomes the barriers of time and space and makes Expo Shanghai permanently available on the internet. The Expo Online will not only expand the influence of the Expo to the world, but also provide an alternative opportunity for the people who can not come to on-site experience.  

　  Recently, Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, Chinese Academy of Sciences, as one of the development and construction organizations of Xinjiang Pavilion’s extension for Expo Online, participates in the work. As reported, this virtual platform will fully utilize the modern 3D virtual technology, further extending and enriches the theme of “Xinjiang is a Nice Place”. The theme includes the following contents: the concept of Xinjiang, the fascination of Xinjiang, living in Xinjiang, the ecology of Xinjiang, the resources of Xinjiang, eating in Xinjiang, shopping in Xinjiang, the folks and dances of Xinjiang. Through the platform people can have a glimpse of Xinjiang’s unique natural environment, history, culture, urban and rural harmony and the economic prosperity.　　

　  Now, Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography has already finished the construction of the basic structure, the electronic sandy model of whole region and the three dimension models of main cities for the Xinjiang Pavilion’s extension. In the future, Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography will also be responsible for online operation and maintenance.
