A Delegation of Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography Investigated Desertification Control in Nigeria

A delegation of Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography (XIEG), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), investigated desertification and its control in Nigeria during the period of June 9-19, 2011.
During the period, the delegation of XIEG visited the Kano Institute of Afforestation, National Institute of Horticulture Research, Bayero University, Kano State University of Science and Technology, Audu Bako College of Agriculture, Kano State Zoological Garden, and Wild Animals Protect Station of Kano State. They also visited the demonstration base of shelterbelts economic project of Africa Desertification Consultation Committee, Gudduba sand dunes, National Shelterbelts Projects, Tiga Dam, and Kano River Irrigation Project, etc.
At the same time, the delegation introduced the successful experiences and achievements obtained by XJEG to the research institutes for desertification control of Nigeria. The report gained a high praise by the governor of Kano State. Then the scientists of two sides made a discussion on the contents and operation mechanism for a cooperation research.
Dr. Li Shengyu reported the successful experiences of XJEG to the Nigerian
