XIEG and Desert Research Institute of USA Establish a Cooperate Relationship

Professor LEI Jiaqiang, deputy director of Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, Chinese Academy of Sciences (XIEG), led two researchers from National Engineering Technology Research Center for Desert-Oasis Ecological Construction, and HU Kelin, deputy director of Science and Technology Bureau of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, visited Desert Research Institute (DRI) of the United States on 21 September, 2013. During the visit, XIEG and DRI establish a cooperation intend on the aspects of project application and talent training. The two sides planned to conduct international cooperation research firstly in the fields of biological control of the tamarisk growth and the ecological utilization of the tamarisk.
DRI is located in the Las Vegas, Nevada, the United States and is one of the famous environmental research organizations in the world. DRI conducts cutting-edge applied research in air, land and life, and water quality across Nevada, the United States and every continent. XIEG and DRI have many similarities in the research fields, so the two sides possess a broad cooperation potential.
