WORLD YOUTH FORUM SHARAM EL SHEIKH, EGYPT

Our Young Egyptian Scientist OSAMA MOHAMED who is working in the Key Laboratory of Biogeography and Bioresource in Arid Land, CAS under the supervising of Prof Dr. Li Wen-Jun attended the World Youth Forum, which was held at SHARAM EL SHEIKH, EGYPT from NOV 4 to NOV 11, 2017. Osama got an official invitation by Egyptian Presidency to attend this  Forum represented the young Egyptian scientist in China.

The World Youth Forum is a platform built by promising youth that sends a message of peace, prosperity, harmony, and progress to the entire world. Engaging youth from around the globe in an enriching convention, allowing them to express their views and recommend initiatives to decision-makers and influential figures. The forum was a chance for participants to engage with top policymakers, network with promising youth from the region and the world that are determined to create real change in the world we live in today.

 

The meeting began with a keynote speech given by the president of the Arab Republic of Egypt. The forum brought together 3,300 participants, 60 official delegations from across the world and more than 150 young Egyptian expats. In addition, Minister Chen Bao-sheng, Ministry of Education of Chinese Education attended the World Youth Forum as the special envoy of Excellency President Xi Jinping.

This meeting covered six days of work and was split into several major topic areas by around 222 speakers. Such asDi­fferences Among Cultures and Civilizations: Conflict or Integration, A Youth Vision to Achieving Sustainable Development at a Global Level, Challenges and Issues Facing World Youth: Means to Overcome Towards Building a Better Future, Panel Discussion on the Adverse Impacts of Irregular Migration on Youth Around the World, Role of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Impact on Middle East Issues, The Egyptian Experience in Hosting Refugees, Innovative Youth Experiences in Entrepreneurship, Investment Opportunities for the Suez Canal Economic Zone, Women's Role in Decision-Making Circles, Means to Enhance Women's Political, Social and Economic Participation, Youth and The Age of Technology, Capitalizing on the Potentials of Youth to Achieve Development, Youth Contribution to Building and Keeping Peace in Conflict and Post- Conflict Zones, WYF MUN Security Council, How Does the World Create Its Leaders, The Egyptian Experience in Building the Future –A Presentation of the Presidential Leadership, Program (PLP) and the National Academy For Youth Training, and Examples of the Leaders of the Future.

Osama also met many Egyptian ministers such as the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Prof Dr. Khalad Abdelgafar and the Minister of International Cooperation and Investment Dr. Sahar Nasar. Moreover, he had a closed meeting with his university president and discussed  future cooperation between Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Biography and Arish University, and the president was very interested to visit Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, and sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the Arish university and Xinjiang Institute.

Osama also was invited to Egyptian parliament and met with Dr. Tarek Radwan, the Head of the International Relations Committee, and Ms. Ghada Agamy, the Second Deputy of the Committee and explained to them the importance of China century project “One Belt One Road” initiative and how Egypt can cooperate with China to achieve this dream which mainly depends on Win- Win policy.
