Uzbekistan Ambassador to China Visits XIEG

On August 18th, Farhod Arziev, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to PRC visited the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He had a friendly exchange with Director Zhang Yuanming on strengthening future technological cooperation in the field of ecological environment between China and Uzbekistan. Prof. Jilili Abuduwaili, Deputy Director of XIEG, Dr. Qiao Jianfang, Head of the division of International Cooperation, and some Uzbekistan experts and students at XIEG participated in the meeting.
Zhang Yuanming welcomed Ambassador Arziev and his delegation. He briefly introduced the basic situation of XIEG from the aspects of historical evolution, talent team, research fields, research platforms, international cooperation, and talent cultivation. He systematically elaborated on the cooperative progress between the institute and Uzbekistan's relevant partners in establishing cooperation mechanisms, building cooperation platforms, conducting collaborative research, enhancing capabilities, and talent development. Zhang also put forward plans and suggestions for future cooperation. He expressed that the XIEG is willing to further strengthen scientific and technological cooperation with relevant research institutions in Uzbekistan. The institute is ready to share China's technologies and experiences in fields such as water resources in the Tarim Basin and saline-alkali land management. Together with Uzbekistan scientists, they aim to contribute actively to the creation of a shared community of destiny between China and Uzbekistan.
Ambassador Arziev stated that the friendly cooperation between Uzbekistan and China has a long history. The leaders of the two countries have led the continuous and healthy development of bilateral relations, creating a broad platform and a favorable environment for deepening exchanges and cooperation. The scientific and technological cooperation is of great significance between the XIEG and Uzbekistan's Partners. He expressed sincere gratitude for the productive cooperation between XIEG and Uzbekistan's research institutions in fields such as agriculture, ecological environment, and water resources. He also thanked XIEG for its support in training visiting scholars and students from Uzbekistan. Ambassador Arziev provided suggestions on technological cooperation in areas such as eco-tourism, water-saving techniques, and climate change in the Syr Darya region. He engaged in thorough communication with Zhang.
After the meeting, Ambassador Arziev and his delegation visited XIEG's Literature Information Center as well as the Xinjiang Natural Museum.
