XIEG Holds 12th "Salon for Scientific Exchange"

On October 27th, the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography (XIEG) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) held the 12th "Salon for Scientific Exchange" (SSE). The event attracted more than 40 participants, including experts, scholars, and students from China and abroad.

During the event, Professor Hossein Azadi, a visiting scientist supported by the CAS President's International Fellowship Initiative (PIFI), offered a presentation about his personal growth, including his hometown, educational background, work experience, research achievements, as well as city landscape, culture and food. He also shared his views on key factors for research project applications.

Dr. Yasir Arafat is also a visiting scientist supported by the CAS President's International Fellowship Initiative (PIFI). He has lived in Xinjiang for over six months. He shared his experiences and accomplishments in Xinjiang, and introduced Pakistan’s history, culture, language, food and dresses.

During the event, participants discussed topics on quantity and quality in scientific publishing. They expressed that SSE plays an important role in facilitating communication among experts with different expertise and nationality. It can spark scientific ideas, promote scientific collaboration and give them a sense of belonging in China.

In future, XIEG plans to hold SSE in various forms to better support foreign experts and create a conducive environment for their scientific research.
