XIEG Holds 16th "Salon for Scientific Exchange"

On March 15, the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography (XIEG) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) held the 16th “Salon for Scientific Exchange” (SSE). The event attracted over 20 Chinese and foreign experts and students.
Dr. Toqeer Ahmed, Associate Professor at COMSATS University Islamabad and Visiting Scientist at XIEG supported by the CAS President’s International Fellowship Initiative (PIFI), was invited to deliver a presentation. He introduced the global and Pakistan water situations, opportunities and challenges, and international projects on smart water metering and pricing, safe drinking water, and groundwater management.
After his presentation, the attendees exchanged views on optimizing water resource utilization, management practices for drinking water and agricultural water, and strategies to address the challenges posed by climate change.
Dr. Toqeer Ahmed, Associate Professor at COMSATS University Islamabad, PIFI visiting scientist at XIEG has been actively involved in both teaching and research for over 20 years. His research contributions include over 50 research articles, 15 conference papers, and an edited book, covering various aspects of water resource management, climate change, health, and environmental sustainability.
Established in 1998, COMSATS University Islamabad is a multi-campus public university located in Islamabad, the capital city of Pakistan, and several other cities. It was founded under the auspices of the Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South (COMSATS), an intergovernmental organization committed to aiding developing countries in achieving sustainable development through science and technology.
