XIEG, IBASU Sign MoU to Establish Xinjiang–Uzbekistan Botanical Exhibition Garden

The Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography (XIEG) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Institute of Botany of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan (IBASU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on April 22,2024, in Tashkent, in the presence by ZHANG Yaping (Vice President, CAS), Shakhlo Turdikulova (Vice President, Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan), and YU Jun (Chinese Ambassador to Uzbekistan).

Both parties are committed to jointly establishing the Xinjiang–Uzbekistan Botanical Exhibition Garden, strengthening cooperation in scientific research, capacity building, knowledge sharing, and personnel training in the field of plant diversity conservation in arid regions.

The signing of the MoU is one of the actions to implement the Action Plan for Green Technology Development in Central Asia, which was jointly released by XIEG and Central Asian partners during the Third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in October 2023.
