2024-12-18
On December 13, the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography (XIEG) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences held the 32nd “Salon for Scientific Exchange" (SSE).
Prof. DU Mingyuan was invited to give a presentation on "Numerical Simulation Study on Wind, Gas and Particle Diffusion and Windbreak Facilities at Complex Terrains". He started by sharing his professional journey from a small village in China to the University of Tsukuba in Japan, where he became an expert in the field of climate simulation. He then introduced the environmental simulation in arid zones and the simulation of nuclear radiation impact after Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant accident in Japan, and his current research on the simulation of complex terrains in the Taklimakan Desert. After the presentation, participants discussed on climate simulation, simulating constraints and parameters, and other topics.
Prof. DU focuses on research related to climate change, agricultural climate environment, and ecological environment. He has developed numerical models for wind protection in desert areas, and observing CO2 flux in high altitude areas of the plateau grassland ecosystems. He has published more than 200 papers in Nature Communications, Global and Planetary Change, Global Change Biology, Agricultural and Forest Meteorology and other journals, with an h-index of 38 now.
