Uzbek Ambassador to China Visits XIEG

Uzbekistan's Ambassador to China, Farhod Arziev, visited the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography (XIEG) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) on April 12. The visit, which included a cordial discussion with Prof. ZHANG Yuanming, Director of XIEG, focused on key collaborative projects and priorities for the year of 2025.
During the discussion, they agreed to expedite the establishment of the CAS Research Center for Ecology and Environment of Central Asia in Tashkent.This center will serve as a hub for scientific research and regional collaboration. Furthermore, XIEG will provide support for the establishment of Uzbekistan's national halophyte botanical garden, promoting bilateral cooperation on the conservation and sustainable use of halophytes.
Ambassador Arziev reaffirmed his strong commitment to ongoing collaboration with XIEG, especially in joint projects and training programs facilitated by the Zamin International Public Foundation.
With 2025 declared as the Year of environmental protection and green economy by Uzbekistan, both sides highlighted opportunities to deepen cooperation in key areas such as ecological conservation, biodiversity conservation, air pollution control, and drinking water safety.
The visit has further strengthened practical cooperation between China and Uzbekistan in addressing critical environmental challenges.
