2025-12-06
The Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography (XIEG) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), together with the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change of Uzbekistan (Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Ecology), jointly inaugurated the headquarters of Research Center for Ecology and Environment of Central Asia (RCEECA) in Tashkent, Uzbekistan on Nov. 19.
With the support of XIEG and its partners, RCEECA was established in 2013 as one of CAS overseas institutions. To bolster scientific and technological support for Central Asian countries, CAS approved the establishment of RECCCA’s headquarters in Tashkent in 2024.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by notable figures, including Jusipbek Kazbekov, Deputy Minister of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Ecology; Erkin Muhitdinov, Director of the Forestry Agency under Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Ecology; YANG Xianren, First Secretary of the Chinese Embassy in Uzbekistan; ZHANG Yuanming, Director of XIEG; Shahriyor Nurulloyev, Acting Rector of Green University.
The establishment of the Tashkent Headquarters marks a key step for RCEECA’s operation. Moving forward, XIEG and its partners will engage in close collaboration to make the headquarters a leading center for scientific innovation and talent development, benefiting all five Central Asian countries under the framework of the "China–Central Asia" mechanism.
