Ecology and Environment Department of Xinjiang Visits XIEG

On March 9, a delegation led by LAN Tian, Deputy Director of the Ecology and Environment Department of Xinjiang government, visited the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography (XIEG) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) for environmental cooperation.

ZHANG Yuanming, Director of XIEG, welcomed the delegation and led them on a tour of the Xinjiang Natural Museum and the Data Center for Ecological and Environmental Sciences in Arid Lands.

During the meeting, the two sides held in-depth discussions on topics including the development of ecological monitoring systems for scientific research, research data sharing, joint research initiatives, and talent cultivation. They reached consensus on the need for closer coordination between government and research institutions and for better integration of scientific research outcomes into practical ecological and environmental governance.

This visit paves the way for deeper and practical cooperation. Both sides committed to pooling their strengths to jointly tackle key environmental challenges in Xinjiang, thereby reinforcing West China's ecological security and fostering the development of a beautiful Xinjiang.
