Launch of R&D Project Held at XIEG
2026-05-25
On May 25, the launching ceremony and implementation plan demonstration meeting of the project “Research and Development of Multi-coupling Green Remediation Technology for Soil Composite Pollution in the Northern Slope Economic Belt of Tianshan Mountains”were held at Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, Chinese Academy of Sciences (XIEG).
Focusing on the critical need for ecological restoration of abandoned mines in the Northern Slope Economic Belt of Tianshan Mountains, Xinjiang, the meeting targeted difficulties in composite soil pollution remediation under special eco-environmental conditions including high salinity-alkalinity, arid freeze-thaw cycles and sandy barren land.
The project will prioritize the development and utilization of native remediation plants, functional microorganisms and biomass resources, develop carbon-based functional materials and synthetic microbial agents, and establish a plant-material-microbe ternary coupled enhanced self-remediation technology system.
The project aims to break through key technical bottlenecks in the synergistic remediation of heavy metals and organic pollutants under special habitats in Xinjiang, develop a mine ecological restoration technology model with regional characteristics, and provide scientific and technological support for Xinjiang's ecological security and green, high-quality development.
