XIEG Researcher Wins Tajikistan's Highest National Award for Young Scientists

On August 31, Dr. Farhod Nasrulloev, a postdoctoral researcher and special research assistant in the Arid Region Water Resources and Land Surface Processes Group at the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, Chinese Academy of Sciences (XIEG), was awarded the “Ismoil Somoni Prize for Young Scientists” of the Republic of Tajikistan. Qohir Rasulzoda, Prime Minister of Tajikistan, presented him with the medal and certificate on behalf of the President.

Established in March 1998, the “Ismoil Somoni Prize for Young Scientists” is one of Tajikistan’s highest national honors for young scientists. It recognizes and supports young scientists who have made outstanding achievements in the fields of natural sciences, technical sciences, humanities, and medicine. The prize serves as a key national strategic initiative to discover emerging scientific talent, strengthen the country’s scientific and technological innovation capacity, and support the development of young scientific and technological talent. It carries great academic prestige and national significance.

Dr. Farhod Nasrulloev has long been dedicated to research on climate change, glacier and snow cover dynamics, water resource assessment, and cryosphere system stability in Central Asia and Tajikistan. Under the guidance of Prof. CHEN Yaning and his research team at XIEG, he has conducted in-depth investigations into the impacts of environmental evolution on regional water resources, providing key scientific evidence for formulating climate change adaptation measures.
