Delegation from Suzhou University of Science and Technology Visits XIEG and Signs Cooperation Agreement

On September 18, a delegation led by LI Yong, Vice President of Suzhou University of Science and Technology (SUST), visited the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, Chinese Academy of Sciences (XIEG). The two sides held a meeting and signed a Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement. ZHANG Yuanming, Director of XIEG, DUAN Weili, Deputy Director of XIEG, and Prof. LEI Jiaqiang, along with relevant administrative and research staff, attended the event.

During the meeting, Director ZHANG Yuanming extended a warm welcome to the SUST delegation and introduced XIEG’s research layout, platform development, and international cooperation in the field of arid-region ecology and environment. Vice President LI Yong introduced SUST’s disciplinary characteristics, talent cultivation achievements, and international cooperation and exchanges progress.

The two sides held in-depth discussions on topics including the construction of the Belt and Road Joint Laboratory, applications for cooperation programs, as well as academic resource sharing, field station collaboration, and the transfer and applicationof research outcomes.

Both sides agreed to take this exchange as an opportunity to establish a regular cooperation mechanism and promote substantive collaboration in platform co-construction, joint research and talent training, and to further expand scientific and technological cooperation with Central Asian countries to serve regional ecological security and green development.

Following the meeting, the two sides signed the Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement and visited the Xinjiang Natural Museum.
