Delegation from COMAC Shanghai Aircraft Design and Research Institute Visits Mosuowan Desert Research Station for Exchange
2026-09-30
On September 21, a delegation led by YIN Xiufeng, Vice President of the COMAC Shanghai Aircraft Design and Research Institute, visited the Mosuowan Desert Research Station of the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, Chinese Academy of Sciences (XIEG), and held in-depth discussions on wind-sand environment technologies.
The delegation visited the station’s wind tunnel laboratory, inspected its hardware facilities and test conditions, and learned about the wind-sand environment simulation testing capabilities, the operation of instruments and equipment, and the development of field observation platforms.
During the meeting, ZHOU Xiaobing, Director of the Division of Scientific Research of XIEG, introduced the development history of XIEG, its disciplinary layout, the development of wind-sand research platforms in arid regions, and its major scientific research achievements. The COMAC Shanghai Aircraft Design and Research Institute gave an overview of the institute, and explained the technological progress and practical technical needs for addressing wind-sand environments and related hazards during the development of domestically developed large aircraft.
The two sides held in-depth exchanges on wind-sand environment simulation, wind-sand hazard mechanisms, engineering technologies for wind-sand resistance, test platform sharing, and joint research to tackle key problems. They reached consensus on multiple issues, including deepening industry-university-research collaboration, leveraging platform resources, and jointly addressing key wind-sand technical problems faced by aviation equipment.
The delegation spoke highly of the scientific research accumulation and platform support capabilities of the Mosuowan Desert Research Station in desertification prevention and control and wind-sand environment simulation testing.
Both sides agreed to take this exchange as an opportunity to advance platform sharing, joint technological research and development, and achievement transformation and sharing. They will promote the translation of wind-sand research findings into practical engineering applications and support the development of wind-sand adaptability technologies for domestic large aircraft.
