Science Popularization Achieved by Desert Plant Conservation and Stress Resistance Molecular Mechanism Team of XIEG

Recently, the Desert Plant Conservation and Stress Resistance Molecular Mechanism Team led by Prof. ZHANG Daoyuan of the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, Chinese Academy of Sciences (XIEG), has achieved repeated success in the field of science popularization.

The science popularization video “Superheroes from Xinjiang - Mars Moss”, created by Prof. LI Xiaoshuang and Ph.D. student Dina Mahesati, has been selected as one of the 2026 National Outstanding Science Popularization Works.

A series of original science popularization artworks created by the team has won multiple awards at the art exhibition of the Sixth International Workshop on Biological Soil Crusts (Biocrust 6).
