Xinjiang Tourism Academy

Founded officially by the approval of the Office of the Organization Committee of Xinjiang Autonomous Region, Xinjiang Tourism Academy was jointly established by the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Department of Culture and Tourism and the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, Chinese Academy of Sciences, in December 2012.  

With a research team covering multidisciplinary fields, including tourism, geography, ecology, geology, culture, history, cultural relics, folklore, photography, information technology, marketing and other fields, Xinjiang Tourism Academy carry out top-level design and research on the development of Xinjiang tourism industry from global-national-regional perspective. More than 90 tourism plans at all levels undertaken by Xinjiang Tourism Academy have become the scientific basis for guiding the protection and utilization of tourism resources in Xinjiang and the development of tourism industry. 

Driven by the principles of ‘think tank of government and industry, leading research team in tourism field”, Xinjiang Tourism Academy focuses on strengthening the constructive of consultative competence, data collection, commercialization of research findings, and team buildings. It is also an important platform for the Chinese Academy of Sciences to carry out local cooperation, which has undertaken more than 20 key projects including the National key Research and development program, National Technology Support Program, National Natural Science Foundation Project, Chinese Academy of Sciences Innovation Project, the STS plan of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Development And Reform Project Of the Ministry Of Science and Technology, the major science and technology programs of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the science and technology support plan of the autonomous region, the International Science And Technology Cooperation Project of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, etc.  

With the completion of Xinjiang tourism big data cloud computing center and multilingual tourism comprehensive service information platform "Travel Silk Road", their research achievement "Xinjiang Tourism Big Data and Information Service Technology Integration and Demonstration" won the first prize of the 2017 Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Science and Technology Progress Award, contributing to Xinjiang's tourism informatization and the construction of the "Digital Silk Road". 

Xinjiang Tourism Academy completed the full set of application texts of "Xinjiang Tianshan" and "Xinjiang Altai Mountain", signed by the State Council and submitted to the United Nations World Heritage Center. "Xinjiang Tianshan" was successfully listed in the World Natural Heritage site in 2013, and the research findings won the first prize of the 2013 Science and Technology Progress Award of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Outstanding Contribution Award, Chinese Government Friendship Award and China Tianshan Award, etc. 

Xinjiang Tourism Academy has provided tourism decision-making consulting services for the government and enterprises in various forms such as training lectures, technical consultations, evaluations and demonstrations. It has achieved outstanding results and significant comprehensive benefits.
