The first research project from the “Research Projects of Hundred Qualified-personnel Program” for Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography passed the experts’ argumentation

　　On November 14, 2008, the Bureau of Resources and Environmental Science and Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, organized some experts to hold the argumentation meeting of the “Research Projects of Hundred Qualified-personnel Program” at Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography. Mr. Fu Bojie, the Director of the Bureau of Resources and Environmental Science and Technology, Mr. Huang Tieqing, the Chief of Ecological Department, and Mr. Dong Xinguang, the Deputy Director of Bureau of Water Conservancy of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, attended the meeting.

　　Professor Luo Yi put forward some systematical scientific issues based on the long-term investigation and research in the Manas River Basin and referring a lot of literatures. After debriefing, oppugning and discussing, the experts considered that Professor Luo Yi accorded with the election qualification of the “Research Projects of Hundred Qualified-personnel Program”, the targets of the research project of “Study on the water-salt movement and conversion laws and the prediction of the evolution trend in the Manas Oasis in Xinjiang”, applied by Professor Luo Yi, were specific, the research contents were clear, the technological process was rational, and the research scheme was feasible, so they all agreed to pass the feasible argumentation of the research project. According to the arrangement of the Bureau of Resources and Environmental Science and Technology, the research project will be started as soon as possible after the project scheme is modified and improved.

　　Professor Chen Xi, the Director of Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, expressed that this was the first research project from the “Research Projects of Hundred Qualified-personnel Program” for our institute, the “Research Projects of Hundred Qualified-personnel Program” is not only the important conditions for the development of institutes, but also an important content of the program of qualified scientists and technicians of our institute. He hopped that the starting of the research project can promote the research work in fields of hydrology, ecology, etc. in our institute.
