Two graduate students of Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography won the outstanding doctor’s and master’s degree paper awards of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region

  Recently, the appraisal and choosing work of the doctor’s and master’s degree papers recommended by the graduate student nurturing institutions in Xinjiang was ended, and the appraisal and choosing work was accomplished by the experts organized by the Office of Academic Degree Committee of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. According to the “Requisition about the Opening Notification of Appraisal and Choosing Work of Doctor’s and Master’s Degree Papers of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in 2008” circularized by the Academic Degree Committee of the autonomous region, two graduate students of Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography won the awards.

  The “Response and adaptation of Tamarix ramosissima and Holoxylon ammodendron to precipitation change — an integrated study on carbon balance at physiological, plant and community levels”, written by Dr. Xu Hao whose tutor is Professor Li Yan, was appraised as an outstanding doctor’s degree paper; the “Effects of microbiotic crust on seed bourgeon and seedling survival and growth of 5 species of vascular plants”, written by Nie Huali whose tutor is Professor Zhang Yuanming, was appraised as an outstanding master’s degree paper.

  In order to raise the education quality of graduate students and train more topnotch innovation persons, the Academic Degree Committee of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region establishes the Outstanding Doctor’s and Master’s Degree Paper Award. The choosing and appraisal were accomplished by the discipline groups and affirmed by the Choosing and Appraisal Committee, and 6 doctor’s papers and 50 master’s papers were appraised as the outstanding doctor’s and master’s papers of the autonomous region in 2008.
