Recently, the Method of Improving Drought-tolerance of Calligonum mongolicum Turcz. by Man-made Restoration in Arid Desert Region was invented by Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, CAS, was granted the Invention Patent Certification (Patent No. ZL200910113267.0).
The method was carried out through seedling selection, land level off and seedling pre-processing at the preliminary stage, irrigation and other steps. The response of part root of C. mongolicum to arid environment induces the formation of the feedback regulation mechanism which is an important strategy to adapt drought and to achieve the purpose of improving drought-tolerance of C. mongolicum by man-made restoration in arid desert region. The method can effectively avoid the reverse succession which is resulted from the withdrawal of man-made measures. The seedling of C. mongolicum can continue to grow and develop at the rainfall less than 100 mm and natural arid environment.
