Science and Technology Cooperation Seminar on National Scientific Institutions of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (June 24 to June 25, 2008)

　　This seminar was hosted by the Chinese Academy of Sciences. More than 70 representatives in total attended the seminar, including Li Jiayang, vice president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the International Cooperation Bureau, representatives of other institutes affiliated to the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Xinjiang department of Science and Technology, general or vice presidents of academy of sciences, directors of the institutes, as well as scientists in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Mongolia.

　　In this seminar, representatives discussed and consulted on the mechanism for regional cooperation in science and technology, platform construction, the prior areas and personnel training under the framework of Shanghai Cooperation Organization.The "Declaration" was formed, which sets up the cooperation mechanism of Academy of Sciences of the region under the framework of Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the prior areas of cooperation, cooperation patterns and other issues. The seminar also nailed down the recently key possible areas of cooperation. Finally, it came to an agreement on the place and time of the next meeting that is in Novosibirsk of Russian in June-July 2009.
