HE Yan Visits Qira National Field Research Station for Desert Steppe Ecosystem

HE Yan, the deputy Secretary-General of Chinese Academy of Sciences, accompanied by LEI Jiaqiang, the deputy director of Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, visited the Qira National Field Research Station for Desert Steppe Ecosystem on July 4, 2011.

HE Yan listened to the reports about the history, the current significant projects, research progress and achievements of the station. He fully affirmed the achievements of the station obtained in recent years, and gave some guiding suggestions to the development and orientation of the station. He hopes that the station can solve significant scientific issues by using long-term data accumulation and field observation, and promote the development of local economy and society finally.

HE Yan also visited the laboratory, the experimental areas of plants’ fine root turnover and habitat adaptation, and integrated observation field for crops.
