A Delegation of IWPHE Visits XIEG

On June 12, 2012, Dr. KOBULIEV Z. V., director of Institute of Water Problems, Hydropower and Ecology (IWPHE), Academy of Sciences, Republic of Tajikistan, led a delegation of IWPHE visited Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography (XIEG), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in order to put into effect of a cooperation agreement signed by XIEG and IWPHE in Dushanbe in November, 2011.

Professor CHEN Xi, director of XIEG, and Prof. Jilil Abduweli, deputy director of XIEG, held a symposium with the delegation of IWPHE. During the symposium, XIEG and IWPHE introduced the survey and recent work dynamics of each institute respectively. Dr. KOBULIEV Z. V. praised and congratulated the XIEG’s achievements, and hoped XIEG and IWPHE could have closer scientific cooperation in the future.

Professor CHEN Xi agreed with the cooperative suggestion and introduced the International Training Program for Young Talents of XIEG. There are three training programs in XIEG: 1) Recruiting and training foreign students all over the world especially the Central Asia to get their master or PhD degree; 2) Short-term (one month, three months or six months) visiting for specific scientific program and cooperation agreement; 3) Foreign Young Scientist Program. This program aims to attract foreign young scientists to conduct research work in XIEG for a certain period, and promote the academic exchange, international cooperation and talent training of XIEG. Prof. CHEN Xi hoped XIEG and IWPHE could strengthen communications with each other in order to timely and effectively solve the problems occurring in project implementation period.

After the symposium, the delegation of IWPHE visited the laboratory building and museum specimens of XIEG.
