XIEG and the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan Sign a Cooperation Agreement

Prof. XIAO Wenjiao, deputy director of Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, Chinese Academy of Sciences (XIEG), led a delegation of XIEG went to the Republic of Tajikistan and conducted academic communication and field investigation from 5 to 9 June, 2013. During the period of the visit, XIEG and the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan held a symposium on the cooperation between the two countries, and meanwhile signed a cooperation agreement about “China-Tajikistan Joint Research on Geological Structures and Mineral Resources of Tianshan Mountains and Pamir Region”.

The cooperation agreement includes three aspects: 1) jointly establishing and sharing the data databases; 2) jointly conducting field investigation in the Tianshan Mountains and Pamir region, and publishing the relevant scientific outcomes; and 3) jointly training graduate students and intensifying the personnel exchange visits.

After the symposium, researchers of XIEG conducted field scientific investigation in the middle Tianshan Mountains.
